DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY

Biotechnology department of the college was established as one of the subject in science at the UG level in 2003 under promotion of UGC vocational courses. Initially the department was financed by UGC and at present the department is under provision of self finance. Dr. Ashok Kumar Pandey of the botany department is coordinating the department. Besides Dr. Pandey, Dr. S.N. Tiwari acts as assistant professor, Mr. Pankaj Mishra as part time lecturer, Mr. V.K. Dubey, lab assistant and Mr. Suresh Kumar as lab attendant in the department.

The department has organized a national level workshop on "Recent Trends in Molecular Biology and DNA Fingerprinting" with the collaboration of CytoGene, Lucknow and also has collaboration with CytoGene in the field of study, research and teaching. The department is well equipped with laboratory facilities for students and researches and members are actively engaged in research with teaching. At present, some students are actively engaged in the field of R&D.
