DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY

Department of Zoology is running since establishment of the college (1971). Though the college is located in rural area, the department is known for its quality of teaching and research throughout the university. Prof D.D. Dubey was pioneer faculty member of the department. He was awarded with prestigious Fogarty Fellowship (USA). Dr. Dubey and Dr. Ajit Kumar Singh run projects funded by national funding agencies like UGC,CSIR and DST. At present two major research projects with amount of Rs. 33.20 lacs and 10.27 lacs sanctioned by SERB and UGC respectively are running under supervision of Dr. Rajesh Kumar Kharwar. Motive of the department is to provide quality science education. Selections of the students are done on the basis of merit in qualifying examination and interview. Undergraduate and post graduate courses are running with full strength. Modern techniques like use of internet, LCD projector and smart board are being used to develop concepts in students. A rich collection of reference books is available in departmental library and being accessed by the faculty and students. The department runs specialization in “Fishery Biology” and “Cell Biology” as per availability of the students. The department is also rich in instrumentation facilities like-Light Microscope, Dissecting Microscope, Microtome, Fluorescent Microscope, ELISA plate reader, Western blot assembly, Laminar Flow, Cooling Centrifuge, Autoclave, Deep Freeze (-20 0C). All the existing facilities in the department are worn by the students and teachers for teaching and research activities.
